Turkey’s wildfires are reported to be under control
The final active blaze was identified in Harmancik, located in the northwestern Bursa region. Minister Ibrahim Yumakli informed the press that “Our efforts to completely control the fire are ongoing, with five aircraft, 30 helicopters, and 855 ground vehicles.”
He explained that challenging weather conditions, including dense morning fog and smoke combined with strong afternoon winds, complicated aerial firefighting efforts, causing delays in managing the fires. “However, as soon as the weather began to improve, we stepped up our aerial response. We are already working tirelessly on the ground, day and night,” Yumakli added.
Progress in containing the Bursa wildfire is reportedly positive, with hopes of delivering encouraging updates later Tuesday.
The minister also emphasized the importance of public vigilance, urging people to promptly report even the smallest signs of fire in open areas. He reminded that the wildfire risk remains high and that authorities will maintain heightened alertness at least until October.
